General Information:
Every year Prentice offers a Slingerland Summer School, which focuses on the Slingerland Approach to Language Arts with instruction in reading, handwriting, spelling, and oral and written language. The Slingerland Approach teaches patterns for the automatic association of the auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learning modalities.
Instruction is presented so that all learning pathways (visual, auditory, kinesthetic-tactile) are used simultaneously in order to enhance memory and learning. In order to acquire skills that allow children who struggle in reading to achieve at their level of intellectual potential, they must be presented with highly structured and explicit instruction in phonics and the application of rules when writing, following the normal development of language.
