Astrocamp Paperwork: Scroll down to the bottom section where all the files for download are located. Big Boy!! My how time flies! Lucas is no longer the "baby." At two years four months and 90 pounds, he is an older teenager! He is currently working on advanced obedience, which is off-lead! He has passed the Canine Good Citizen test that the American Kennel Club administers. He DID pass his Therapy Dog International test on 10/29/ 09, but I didn't register him because I feel he needs to mature more before we go a-visiting. He and I placed fourth in our first AKC Rally-O Novice A on 10/31/09! At our second Rally on January 31, 2010, we didn't place, but he did earn a 92 out of 100 and the second leg of his title! We are all sooo proud of him! We needed to practice NOT SNIFFING. Our Saturday, May 1, competition in Chino was only relatively successful. Lucas and I qualified for our third and final leg of his Novice A title...but he SNIFFED SO MUCH that we lost 26 points! To say the least, I was a bit discouraged until I recalled that I hadn't been able to get him out to run him in three days! No wonder he was all over the place!! Over the Memorial Day weekend, we won a first place with a 98 out of 100 points! Our next competition is in September...we'll see how he does in Novice B. Just a few shots of Lucas's first trip to the beach when he was a wee 6-month-old pup in October 2008, and one from April 2010 with one of his favorite toys. :) Just-a-Thought: Think not of yourself as the architect of your career but as the sculptor. Expect to have to do a lot of hard hammering and chiseling and scraping and polishing. --B.C. Forbes, Scottish financial journalist and author who founded Forbes Magazine.

A note about homework! "Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved." --Helen Keller, American author and social activist (1880-1968) "Even a gem cannot be polished without friction. Excellence comes through trials." --Unknown There are two important reasons for students to complete homework assigned to them by their teachers: practice and responsibility. If you or your student (whoever happens to be reading this) have evening activities, it is still the student's responsibility to complete his or her homework on time. Even though the activities may enrich students' lives, it is their responsibility to manage their time so their homework, which is also their responsibility, is completed. The element of practice as a part of homework is especially important for people who are dyslexic. The more times information is manipulated, the more solidly the student owns it. So...live boldly and do your homework. It is one of the best grade and character enhancers available! :) Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page and check out the files for download...there may be a handout or reference tool that could help you with English or another course's assignment... Reading: On a weekly basis, students will have reading summaries to complete for the books they will be reading independently. These summaries are normally assigned on Friday and due the following Friday, giving the students a full seven days to complete them. See Homework Assignments for other assignment particulars. Also, check your student's assignment book to see if they have been given additional reading summaries or other assignments to complete.
