Our Community Philosophy

At The Prentice School, we understand that by the time our families arrive at Prentice, many have been through a series of challenges and times of frustration trying to identify the best help for their child. That is why we take great pride in the community of support we have built around our students that includes donors, board members, industry influencers and community partners, in order to make them the primary focus.

Our “student-centered” focus is Prentice’s unique and dynamic way to better serve them. The Prentice School works diligently with our students to build a solid foundation of learning in an environment of “nurturing and caring” so that they feel safe to learn at their pace and in their own style.

Just as important, we strongly believe we must not only care of our students, but also support their family and loved ones. To that end we’ve created our Educational Workshop series, a setting for open discussions presented by experts in their fields so that parents, guardians, family members and special friends are armed with the knowledge, tools and resources to support their tireless efforts to ensure their child receives the very best in education and in life.

In order to provide these necessary tools and resources, we rely on our Prentice parent volunteers to spearhead book fairs, classroom activities, special events and our Parent Alliance Committees (PTA equivalent). Our Prentice parents also assist the school in raising the additional funds necessary to provide new equipment in the classrooms, field trips, assemblies and other unique learning experiences.

In fact, last year, over 100 families contributed more than 1,800 volunteer hours to bring the Welcome Back Picnic, Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week and the Spirit Carnival among countless other special events and campus activities.

At The Prentice School, your child’s education is truly “student-centered.”
