Students Served:

Prentice students are bright, kind and creative. They possess average to above average intelligence but struggle to learn in the traditional classroom setting. Examples of the learning differences Prentice serves are dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, specific learning disabilities, language-based learning disabilities (reading, writing, spelling, and comprehension), auditory processing disorder, language processing deficits, ADHD, and anxiety. Many of our students have weaknesses in working memory, deficits in processing speed, and executive functioning challenges.

Educational Approach:

The Prentice School uses research-based teaching methods and simultaneous multi-sensory instructional strategies. Our structured literacy approach is intensive, explicit, cumulative, and systematic. Our practice of leveling students into small instructional groups based on ability ensures that their academic needs are more directly and appropriately met. Our core curriculum is complimented by a robust enrichment program to emphasize our commitment to educating the whole child.
