You may contribute a monetary annual gift specifically designated to the items listed below or for those who prefer to do the shopping, here are some of the most-immediate needed items:

BRAIN TRAIN PROGRAM

A computerized cognitive brain training exercises of systematic computerized brain workouts.

The Brain Train software makes it easy for the students to help restore or improve their working memory, attention, self-control and mental processing speed. The exercises range from the very simple tasks all the way up to challenging working memory activities for peak achievement training. Our target group are junior high school students who have mastered concepts but later forget them and/or cannot retrieve them in an automatic fashion due to active working memory issues. Each student participating in the program will be in a classroom that will offer a quiet, distraction-free environment.  The student will participate in the Brain Train program for 2 hours each week until 20 hours is achieved.  Before the program begins, each student will have a pre test of both memory and attention.  

For a total of 18 students per session to participate for a total of 20 hours/ 30 minutes a day, the following outlines the budget costs: Integrated set of 5 computer designed to assist in remediation of a wide range of cognitive and behavioral deficits commonly seen in children who have learning disabilities. - $4,500
Working Memory Training Set - Working Memory Module, Auditory Working Memory Module, Real Life Working Memory Module, Evaluator and Personal Trainer Protocol and Training set licensed at 5 Computers, unlimited users at each computer. - $9,000
Labor:  $30 hour X 8 hours per week X 30 weeks = $7200

• Software license for Microsoft Office 2007 application suite in PC Lab (twenty five at $120 each)
Administrative
• Twenty 2009-current desktop computers with LCD monitors to replace existing Pentium III and Pentium 4 computers used by administrative staff and teachers, counselors, specialists. (Approx. $600 each)
• Software license for Microsoft Office 2007 application suite for teacher and staff use on local PCs (twenty at $120 each)
Both Academic and Administrative
• Software license for Microsoft Office 2007 application suite to be applied to Citrix thin client use by both students and staff. (twenty at $120 each)

• Three netbook computers for use by students taking adapted tests. (Approximately $350 each)
• Assistive technology software suite/licenses (three sets) for installation on adapted test netbook computers. (Approx. $1,200 each)
• Three desktop computers for student use in Assistive Technology Lab (Approx. $800 each)
• Assistive technology software suite/licenses (three sets) for installation on AT Lab computers. (Approx. $1,500 each)
• Funding for workstation furniture, desk & chair, and cubicles (three stations) used by students in AT Lab. (Approx. $1,500 each)
