Registration for The Prentice 2018 Summer Program is underway! Parents will have the opportunity to sign up their students for our academic enrichment program, fun with language program or summer camp. This is one summer program parents will not want their children to miss! They will have a phenomenal time while maintaining and developing skills learned during the regular school year – and even learning new ones.

Why should I sign up my child for The Prentice 2018 Summer Program?

The Prentice School serves K-8 students with learning differences such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, ADHD and anxiety. With our specialized curricula and highly trained teachers, participants in the Prentice summer program will be better prepared for the start of the next academic year as they learn new skills, make new friends and gain confidence in their own abilities.

The summer program includes 20 days of educational, fun-filled morning classes and afternoons filled with summer camp activities and after school care if needed. Like school-year instruction at Prentice, the summer program is individualized to meet your child’s unique needs and interests.

Academic options for grades K-8
(The Prentice summer program includes two choices of academics)

Academic Enrichment (reading, writing and math): 9 AM – 12 PM – cost $1,100

During this time, students will receive intensive intervention in reading, writing and math. Reading instruction is based on Orton-Gillingham and Slingerland, two research-based structured literacy programs. This multisensory program uses visual, auditory and kinesthetic-tactile activities to enhance children’s understanding and use of written language.

Fun with Language: (grades 1-3) 12:30 – 2 PM (Tues/Wed) or (grades 4-8) 12:30 – 2 PM (Thur/Fri) $450 + $20 material fee

Students interact and build language skills in a stimulating environment with a licensed speech and language pathologist. Students work on vocabulary development, visualization, interference/critical thinking, graphic organizers, grammar, and transitioning strong oral language skills into engaging writing.

Summer Camp for grades K-8

Campers will attend from 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM each day at a cost of $250 per week as they take part in exciting activities that engage the mind, encourage physical fitness and inspire the spirit of adventure. Campers will concentrate on music, science and art activities as well as participation in a weekly field trip.

 Other Available Services

Other available services include one-on-one tutoring, private speech and language therapy sessions, extended care hours (morning and afternoon) and an educational workshop series. The educational workshops are offered free of charge to parents and professionals. Topics include structured literacy, understanding learning differences, prep for life, sensory processing and emotional regulation, a structured literacy demo and the viewing of F.A.T. City, a video that puts the viewer in the position of a person with a learning difference.

Students from public and private schools are welcome to attend. The Prentice summer program qualifies as an Extended School Year (ESY) program.
