The Prentice School has a volunteer board of directors with professionals, parents and Prentice alumni who meet bi-monthly to guide Prentice's continued success.

Mark Gaines
Board President

Mark Gaines is currently working as an independent energy efficiency consultant to 3rd party energy efficiency program providers. Prior to his retirement from Sempra Energy in October, 2011, he was the Director of Customer Programs for San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Gas Company. He holds a BS in Environmental Engineering from U.C. Irvine, an MBA from UCLA and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of California.


Mark's daughter, Tera, was a student at Prentice from 4th through 8th grade.  She is currently attending Chapman University. 


Brian Sullivan
Vice President

Brian Sullivan is a journalist and analyst who has been covering financial services and the insurance industry for more than 30 years. Today, Brian is Editor and Publisher of two of the leading newsletters in the property and casualty insurance industry, Auto Insurance Report and Property Insurance Report. He is also chairman of the Auto Insurance Report National Conference and Property Insurance Report National Conference, annual meetings which bring together leading industry executives, investors, brokers, reinsurers and others to discuss the most important strategic issues impacting auto insurance. Brian, a native of New York City, is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.


Brian and his wife Tracie found Prentice, which they felt was the perfect place for not only their oldest child, but also their youngest son who was clearly very bright, but still struggled in school. Brian believes that Prentice is a life-saver for students who learn differently.


Kathy Daigle

Kathy Daigle has been a Prentice parent since 2015.  Kathy served on the board of the Assistive Technology Institute.  She has served on her local PTA raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the funding of reading intervention teachers.  Kathy is currently a board member of TASK (Team Advocates for Special Kids), and on the family advisory board at the UCLA Pediatric Epilepsy Program. 


Kathy and her daughter have been keynote speakers at several fundraisers to advocate for technology devices for children with special needs. Kathy received the Goodwill Orange County Honoree award for her service.  Kathy is married to Ken and has twin girls, Kaitlyn and Kourtney.


Brian Linzmeier

Secretary Brian Linzmeier is the first former Prentice student to join the school’s board.  After attending Prentice in 1994-95, he attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School and graduated from Loyola Marymount University.  He lived in Shanghai, China and London while completing his MBA at Hult International Business School. He currently is a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley, responsible for asset allocation, portfolio implementation, financial analysis and reporting, and client relations.  


Brian loves to travel and has visited 44 countries and all 50 United States.  Brian is an Eagle Scout.


Dr. Christine Bixby
Board Member

Christine Bixby, M.D. is board certified in pediatrics and neonatology. She completed her fellowship in neonatology at Harbor UCLA Medical Center, Torrance, California. Dr. Bixby completed her residency and internship training in pediatrics at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. She attended medical school at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, Davis, California.

Dr. Bixby's son attended The Prentice School for 4 years.



Dan Clark
Board Member

Married to Laurel since 1979, Dan Clark has three kids; John, Anna, and Carrie. Dan Clark graduated from USC in 1968 and has been working at Prudential Overall Supply since then. He is an avid bird hunter and traveler.  Dan Clark has been on the Prentice Board since 1994.


Diane Donaldson
Board Member

Diane Donaldson is an Assessment Consultant at Pearson Assessments. She graduated from the University of Southern California with a doctorate in Educational Psychology.


Her son, Grant, graduated from Prentice in 2003 and went on to the Orange County High School of the Arts. Diane is an Advisory Council Member for Prentice and often holds workshops for Prentice faculty and staff.


Adam Fingersh
Board Member

Adam Fingersh joined our Board of Directors in late 2019.  He has been with Experian for over 15 years, currently serving as Senior Vice President, Chief Strategist and Head of Strategic Transformation. He received his M.B.A. from the Paul Merage School of Business at University of California at Irvine.


Adam has a unique connection with our students as he too struggled during his early education due to dyslexia.  He attributes much of his success to the multi-sensory tutoring he received and his parents’ fierce advocacy skills.


Kelly Olson
Board Member

After attending Foothill High School in Tustin, Kelly graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a degree in Marketing and Communications.  She has spent the last 30+ years working in real estate, design and construction.  She is currently the Director of Strategic Planning and Development for Clark Construction in the western region. 


Her daughter, Jillian, has been at Prentice for 5 years.  Her experience as a Prentice parent has inspired her to become involved with Prentice leadership in supporting the faculty with their important mission to help students with learning differences thrive.  


Brandon Tanner
Board Member

Brandon Tanner, an alumni student that graduated from The Prentice School 21 years ago, joined our Board of Directors in June of 2020.


As a former Prentice student, he knows the important role that Prentice played in his early education and attributes much of his current success to the Prentice education he received that not only helped him learn, but boosted his self-confidence as he realized he learned differently.


He received a BS in Facilities Management at Brigham Young University, a MS in Green Building from the San Francisco Institute of Architecture, and a MBA from California State University, East Bay.


Judy Pirtle
Board Member

Judy was with Independent Paperboard Marketing in sales and sales management from 1994 to her retirement date of 2015.  She graduated from Northern Arizona University with a BS in psychology.


Judy, and her family, have been very involved at The Prentice School since her grandson, Landon, attended school.  Her goal is to reach as many students that could benefit from a Prentice education as possible.  She believes in the school’s success in teaching children with learning differences. Ann Wagner
Board Member

Ann Wagner, a former teacher and attorney, is a graduate of Cornell University and the New York University School of Law.


She has had two children attend The Prentice School. Ann believes Prentice is a vital resource for families in Orange County.  She credits The Prentice School for making an enormous positive impact in the lives of her children and hundreds of others.  Her goal is to be able to contribute to the continued success of the school.


Jeff Wallace
Board Member

After years of teaching English and Creative Writing at OCSA and Chapman University, Jeff tutors English as a Second Language with the South Coast Literacy Council. He also serves on the Board of the Wallace Centers of Iowa, a nonprofit dedicated to enriching community with Farm to Table food and a Dialogue Dinner program that encourages civil conversation about current issues.


Jeff’s son Eric graduated from Prentice in 2008.
