Learning and attention issues affect one out of every five students, resulting in twenty percent of students struggling to learn in the traditional classroom. Children who learn differently are known to be innovative thinkers who make outstanding contributions to our communities. Nevertheless, many fall short of their full potential because lack of appropriate instruction limits opportunities for these students to learn. Often misunderstood for not being capable of more, expectations are lowered, thus making it even harder for students with learning differences to be successful in college or the workforce.
At The Prentice School, students who learn differently quickly discover that they are smart and can learn when they have a teacher who can unleash their potential. We teach to each student’s strengths through research-based methods and multi-sensory instructional strategies. As they learn to harness their skills, Prentice students experience personal transformation in a short period of time. They become confident to raise their hand, participate in class, enjoy learning, and develop hope for the future.
We hope you will consider joining us for our Education Reimagined Gala to be held Saturday, April 14, 2018, 5:30 PM, at the Newport Beach Country Club in Newport Beach. We rely on your support to help us fulfill our mission to enrich our students’ lives!

The Prentice School celebrated 30 years of helping students achieve their potential with an education Reimagined Themed fundraising gala.
The theme, “Education Reimagined”, served as a reminder to our supporters that we are changing the lives of students here at Prentice and giving them the tools they need to succeed and become strong contributing members to society,” says Alicia Maciel, executive director of The Prentice School. “We take great pride in the community of support we have built around students that includes parents, donors, board members and community partners.”
“Prentice has been at the forefront of educating students with learning differences for over 30 years, “says Corinne Conklin, Director of Events and Donor Relations. “On that night, we heard success stories of our alumni students, and we honored our dedicated teachers who have helped Prentice students achieve success for over 30 years.”
Prentice was honored to have Steven Wagner, Group President of Marketing Services at Experian, as its keynote speaker. Mr. Wagner, who himself struggled in school during his early years due to a learning difference, spoke about why a Prentice education is so important for students who are not able to achieve success in a traditional classroom. Steven Wagner says, “I never understood when I was younger how different my learning style was from others. Only that I consistently disappointed my teachers and parents with my efforts. Prentice has provided a place where my sons can find a better path; one that supports their unique needs and celebrates their unique abilities. I am proud to be part of the Experian family that supports the mission of Prentice.”
